Anita Dickson (aka, The Phoenix), started her drag career back in 2001, like most queens on Halloween night. Over her first several years she worked hard on becoming a name in the local Harrisburg Drag community. In 2006 she competed for her first major preliminary for the Miss Gay Pennsylvania America pageant, Miss Gay Rising Star, and won. With less than 6 weeks to the Miss Gay PA pageant, she pulled herself together with the help of her "unofficial" Drag mother Truly Fabu and stylist known as Glamourpuss, became 1st alternate, winning her a spot to compete in the National pageant, Miss Gay America 2006/07.
A few years later she took a brief "rest" from the world of drag to pull herself together and came back in 2008/2009 as a coach for the new Miss Harrisburg Drag Race competition. During that first year she helped to teach and inspire a new crew of queens and won Coach of the Year. Through the first year she met a new queen named Jaslene LaFelina, who would later that year become Anita's drag daughter.
After finding someone to carry on her legacy, Anita went back into retirement, never to return... But like a Phoenix she decided to rise again after 5 years in 2017.
